I offer Therapeutic Massage and a variety of bodywork modalities. If you are looking for stress relief, pain relief, or want to feel, look and move your best, massage can help. I graduated from the Muscular Therapy Institute in 2008 and have continued my training throughout the past 15 years in modalities that I believe offer the best options in caring for you. I integrate these modalities in your treatment based on what your goals are and on what you are responding well to in achieving your therapy goals. Your first session will start with an intake interview and a treatment plan will be established to support your wellness goals. If there is a specific modality that you would like to try we can focus your treatment specifically on that as well. Appointments may be scheduled in 60 or 90 minute sessions. Massage Therapy is an investment in your health and wellbeing and I look forward to working with you to achieve your wellness goals.
The following are service descriptions for modalities I offer:
- THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE (Sometimes referred to as Deep Tissue)
Incorporates many techniques, including muscular therapy, myofascial release, neuromuscular (trigger point) therapy, craniosacral therapy, and more to accomplish the goal of releasing tension, adhesions and tightness in the deeper muscles and soft tissues of the body. While deeper pressure is sometimes used, deep tissue refers to the layer of soft tissue damage being addressed and deep pressure is sometimes used but not necessarily always the best approach. I choose techniques based on what you are responding well to. Reduces chronic pain, increases flexibility, and improves posture and tone.
- LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE THERAPY (LDT) and MANUAL LYMPH DRAINAGE (MLD)
The lymphatic system is an integral part of your immune system and its primary job is to clear anything out of your body that needs to be removed. That includes fluids and cells your body is shedding through its natural restorative processes, toxins you absorbed or viruses and bacteria you were exposed to. I am trained in both Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (Chikly Method) and in Manual Lymph Drainage (Vodder Method). These are two distinct therapy options for improving the flow and function of your lymphatic system. These are light touch non-invasive therapies that can benefit just about everyone. If you're feeling tired and low on energy, or if you've been sick and feeling like your body is fighting to get back on track, Lymph drainage therapy would likely serve you well. LDT or MLD helps the body's lymphatic system function more optimally to remove proteins and waste products from affected areas and reduce swelling. This helps reduce pressure on cells and allows them to reproduce faster to heal the body making this treatment especially beneficial for athletes recovering from injury, pre and post surgical patients, fibromyalgia and other auto-immune syndromes and chronic fatigue sufferers.
- MYOFASCIAL RELEASE THERAPY
Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures are some of the processes that create Myofascial restrictions. This therapy gently releases them through slow gentle stretching pressure to elongate and free the restrictions.
- CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
Using a soft touch restrictions are released in the CranioSacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective in relieving a wide range of health issues associated with pain and dysfunction.
- RELAXATION MASSAGE
Reduces stress, decreases tension, improves circulation and creates body awareness. Let yourself unwind with a combination of long gliding, and slow kneading, Swedish massage strokes designed to calm, comfort and renew.
- PRE AND POST-NATAL MASSAGE
Massage during pregnancy is a great way to relieve everyday tension and the general aches and pains that are specific to the changes a pregnant woman experiences during the stages of pregnancy and post partum. Massage stimulates your lymphatic system, increasing immunity and helps ease muscle pain and tension, while also stabilizing hormonal levels. Massage during the weeks after delivery helps to restore muscle tone in the abdomen and reposition the pelvis. I completed my certification with Carol Osborne of Body Therapy Education.
- ONCOLOGY MASSAGE
There has been a significant increase in the interest and use of massage therapy in conjunction with traditional cancer treatments. Numerous studies show that gentle non-invasive massage for people affected by cancer can offer significant reductions in pain, fatigue, nausea, depression, and anxiety. Study after study reports improvements in some or all of these symptoms following massage interventions. Having cancer can be one of life's most stressful experiences. For many people, massage is an essential antidote to stress. I completed my Oncology Massage Intensive training with Tracy Walton of Tracy Walton & Associates and also completed training In Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Techniques with Klose Training. If you are currently in treatments, please call prior to making an appointment so that we can plan for the most nurturing treatment for you at the best time for you given your current treatment plan.
- REJUVENATING FACELIFT MASSAGE
A rejuvenating facelift massage is a natural holistic treatment that relaxes your face, neck, head and shoulder muscles, relieving stress and tension and helping your skin regain elasticity while encouraging wrinkles and sagging to diminish creating a natural lift. Techniques from Myo-Fascial Release, Acupressure, Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, GuaSha, Muscular Therapy and Swedish Massage are combined to create a supremely relaxing and effective treatment that leaves you feeling and looking uplifted.
- SPORTS MASSAGE
Combines a variety of massage techniques to enhance sports performance and recuperation. It is an effective component of any training program allowing you to train harder and with less injury. Sports massage is helpful for athletes or anyone who would like to improve their game or live life more fully.
- REIKI
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. I am certified as a Reiki Master Teacher in Holy Fire III Reiki
- LOMI LOMI HAWAIIAN HOT STONE
For centuries the ancient Hawaiian art of Lomi Lomi has been used as a powerful tool for maintaining health. The strokes are long and flowing, using forearms and elbows to create the feeling of many hands on the body at once. Elements of nature are incorporated, including rhythmic movement, deep breathing, hot stones and aromatic essential oils. This massage is deeply relaxing and powerfully detoxifying.
-
WARM BAMBOO FUSION
This treatment uses warm hand crafted bamboo tools of different sizes. These tools are used as an extension of the therapists’ hands, forearms and elbows. The combination provides very deep relaxation while soothing away muscle tension and pain.
